# Who can help me pick a new plan for free?

Two free sources exist and neither sells anything: your State Health Insurance Assistance Program, which gives one-on-one counseling from a trusted, unbiased source, and 1-800-MEDICARE, which is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week except some federal holidays.

State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) SHIPs provide free one-on-one counseling and assistance from a trusted, unbiased source. Find your state's program at shiphelp.org, or call 1-877-839-2675. 1-800-MEDICARE Medicare's own helpline, 1-800-633-4227, is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, except some federal holidays. TTY users can call 1-877-486-2048. What to have in front of you Your Medicare card. Any notice you received from your plan. Your prescriptions and your doctors. Nobody legitimate needs to pressure you into deciding today.
